Position Description

The Instructional Manager will support the adoption and implementation of HQIM at partner school districts. The Instructional Manager will design and deliver training and conduct side-by-side coaching that builds educators’ capacity to implement Bluebonnet Learning, Amplify Reading, Eureka Math, and/or Carnegie Math curriculum. To achieve this impact, the Instructional Manager will:


Coach & Develop Leaders & Teachers (School Year)

  • Engage in regular in-person coaching visits with teachers and campus leaders

  • Design and deliver in-person and/or virtual professional development sessions to leaders 

  • Develop trusting relationships with each teacher and leader

  • Support leaders and teachers to implement high-quality instructional materials (HQIM)

  • Review student data and student work to measure and monitor students’ learning

  • Utilize and manage coaching trackers that track progress of leaders and teachers’ progress

  • Support leaders and leadership teams to internalize research-based curriculum

  • Report and work closely with the Managing Director and other team members to plan and execute training, coaching, and other development activities for education leaders

  • Provide in-person and remote support to teachers that empowers them to enhance the quality of instruction


Develop & Refine Coaching and Training Tools (Summer, On-Going as needed)

  • Internalize the SustainED Leaders’ coaching model and leadership development programs

  • Develop online and physical coaching tools and frameworks to be used in daily and weekly coaching

  • Design in-person and/or virtual training materials 

  • Plan and prepare for each side-by-side coaching experience

  • Create and refine coaching tools and frameworks that will support teachers to internalize and implement research-based curriculum

  • Build coaching tools that leaders can use to support the implementation and management of cultural, data, and instructional systems

  • Create and/or refine weekly coaching agendas and coaching plans for ongoing coaching


Strategic Partner (On-Going)

  • Meet with school leaders to establish partnerships 

  • Partner with SustainED Leaders’ team to design and develop programming

  • Collaborate with SustainED Leaders’ team to determine highest leverage strategic decisions for programming


Evaluate Program 

  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of coaching and development

  • Refine and redesign coaching and training based on data to increase effectiveness

Position Requirements

The Instructional Manager will have a minimum of two years of teaching experience and two years of additional leader experience, and have a track record of coaching and developing teachers to accelerate learning and growth for all students. The Instructional Manager will be an experienced educator who is dedicated to the mission of developing the next generation of outstanding school teachers and leaders.


Additional Qualifications

  • Deep understanding and knowledge of high-quality instructional materials (e.g. Bluebonnet Learning, Eureka, Amplify, Carnegie, etc.) and experience implementing HQIM in districts and schools

  • Demonstrated record of academic achievement and improving student outcomes as a teacher and education leader

  • A results orientation and commitment to holding self and others accountable for maximizing learning and growth for all students

  • The ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as inter- and intra-personal skills

  • Experience managing or coaching teachers to achieve ambitious goals

  • Significant experience using data to achieve academic results

  • Deeply held belief that all children can learn and achieve at high levels regardless of race, gender, or socio-economic background

  • Desire to play a major role in the growth and evolution of a transformative startup organization


Requirements

  • Graduate degree in education (preferred) 

  • A minimum of two years teaching experience plus at least two additional years of leader experience

  • A minimum of two years in an instructional leadership role (principal, dean/assistant principal,  instructional coach, teacher leader, and/or demo teacher)

  • Experience coaching and supporting teachers (leading observation and feedback, leading PLC meetings, analyzing data and planning interventions) 

  • Demonstrated track record of driving strong student outcomes as a teacher and in coaching and developing teachers to accelerate learning for all students

Travel & Working Environment

This is a field-based role, and you will work primarily at partner school sites with administrative tasks completed from your home office and occasional out-of-town travel. This role requires in-field work up to five (5) days per week and may include out-of-town travel up to ten (10) days per month. A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle are required for this position.


Additionally, this role requires sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods of time and may require lifting and/or moving items up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Work Hours: Primarily 8 am - 5 pm (hours may vary based on travel or organization needs) 

Salary & Benefits

The starting salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000. SustainED Leaders offers a competitive benefits package designed to support our team’s total well-being, including:

  • Travel Support: Travel reimbursement and/or mileage stipend for field-based work.
