
Position Description
The Leadership Development Director will design and deliver training and coaching solutions that build education leaders’ capacity to lead continuous instructional improvement in schools. This position is a year-round position. SustainED Leaders’ training and coaching focus on supporting educators to implement evidence-based practices and research-based curriculum that maximize the learning and growth of all students, with an emphasis and focus on implementing HQIM (Bluebonnet Learning, Amplify Reading, Eureka Math, Carnegie Math, STEMScopes Math, i-Ready Math and Reading, SAVVAS Math and Reading, and HMH Reading). To achieve this impact, the Leadership Development Director will:
Coach & Develop Education Leaders & Teachers (School Year

Engage in regular in-person coaching visits with teachers, leaders, and leadership teams

Design and deliver in-person and/or virtual professional development sessions to teachers and leaders
-
Develop trusting relationships with each stakeholder of the partnership
Support leaders and teachers to implement high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) -
Review student data and student work to measure and monitor students’ learning

Utilize and manage coaching trackers that track the progress of leaders' and teachers’ progress
-
Support leaders and leadership teams to internalize research-based curriculum
-
Report and work closely with Managing Directors and other team members to plan and execute training, coaching, and other development activities for education leaders

Planning and delivering model lessons

Provide in-person and remote support to leaders that empowers them to enhance the quality of instruction
Develop & Refine Coaching and Training Tools (Summer, On-Going as needed)

Internalize the SustainED Leaders’ coaching model and leadership development programs
-
Develop online and physical coaching tools and frameworks to be used in daily and weekly coaching

Design in-person and/or virtual training materials

Plan and prepare for each side-by-side coaching experience for leaders and teachers.

Develop customized tools and resources based on the needs of the campus or district

Create and refine coaching tools and frameworks that will support leaders and teachers in internalizing and implementing research-based curriculum

Build coaching tools that leaders can use to support the implementation and management of cultural, data, and instructional systems
Strategic Partner (On-Going)

Meet with school and district leaders to establish partnerships

Partner with SustainED Leaders’ team to design and develop programming

Collaborate with SustainED Leaders’ team on strategic planning and implementation

Manage/Support/Collaborate with SustainED Leaders Instructional Manager for campus planning and support with deliverable
Evaluate Program

Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of coaching and development

Refine and redesign coaching and training based on data to increase effectiveness
Position Qualifications
The Leadership Development Director will have a minimum of five years of experience as a school or district leader and a track record of coaching and developing other leaders and teachers to accelerate learning and growth for all students. A Leadership Development Director will be an experienced, successful urban school leader who is dedicated to the mission of developing the next generation of outstanding school leaders.
Additional Qualifications

Deep understanding and knowledge of high-quality instructional materials (i.e. Bluebonnet Learning, Eureka, Amplify, Carnegie, etc.) and experience implementing HQIM in districts and schools

A demonstrated record of improving student outcomes as a school and/or district leader
-
A results orientation and commitment to holding self and others accountable for maximizing learning and growth for all students

The ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
-
Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as inter- and intra-personal skills
-
Experience managing or coaching teachers and/or school leaders to achieve ambitious goals

Demonstrated academic achievement as a teacher and school leader
-
Significant experience using data to achieve academic results
-
Deeply held belief that all children can learn and achieve at high levels regardless of race, gender, or socio-economic background

The ability to quickly adapt and make decisions in a changing and fast-paced environment

Open-minded and receptive to receiving multiple rounds of feedback

Open to travel to multiple districts and campus sites throughout the school year

Desire to play a major role in the growth and evolution of a transformative startup organization
Requirements

Graduate degree in education (preferred)
-
A minimum of two years teaching experience +

A minimum of five years working in school leadership (principal experience is strongly preferred)
-
Demonstrated track record of coaching and developing teachers and leaders to accelerate learning for all students

Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is: $95,000 - $115,000. SustainED Leaders offers benefits to employees, including: medical, vision, and dental insurance with monthly employer contribution, as well as a SIMPLE IRA with 3% employer match.
